Getting Started

These step-by-step instructions will help you quickly get your website up and running. Please make sure you read this to get a better idea of how our system works so that you can utilize all the services and features we offer.

1. Just signed up?

After placing your order we will send you three emails. The first email you will receive will have the subject: " Welcome to AussieHost.net ". This email contains your order confirmation number. After we process your order, you will receive a second email. This email will have the subject: Package Set-up, which contains your FTP and site login details. The third email will be a credit card charge receipt for your records.

2. Domain Names

New Domain name

If you bought a new domain name through AusssieHost.net, we will register the domain name on your behalf the same day. Your domain name will be fully active within 24-48 hours after the registration. Once it is active, you will be able to access your website by going to http://www.yourdomain.com on your browser.

Transfers

If you already have a domain name and you are transferring it to AusssieHost.net, this is the transfer process. This process can take some time depending on your current domain registrar.

3) Propagation of your domain name-(new customers)

Before you can utilize all of AusssieHost.net services and features (Email, FrontPage, website, stats, etc..), your domain name must be pointed to our DNS numbers and propagated.

If you put your domain name in your browser (http://www.yourdomain.com) and see a page, then your domain name has been propagated and is fully active. If you are a new customer, this usually takes 24-48 hours from your setup date.

4. Now you're ready!

Now you can upload your website There are two different ways of uploading your files. Firstly, you can use FTP to upload your files to the server.

If you are using FrontPage, you can publish your website with it.

5. Setup

Your Site Admin control Panel & how to use it.

By default, an email account is automatically set up. Your Email service will only work once your domain name is propagated. You can check your email  by going to http://yourdomain.com/webmail mail or you can use any email client.

TutorialSet Up your MS Outlook account.

The most common question we receive from our users is in regards to the appropriate "web"
directory under their FTP server where they should be placing their files.

With your account you will have FTP Access.  You can FTP into your site's server by logging in with the same user name & password that we gave you in your initial account setup e-mail, and you can upload files into your "web" directory.  Any files put in the "web" directory are visible on the web.

PLEASE NOTE:
When you first connect to your FTP Server via FTP you will be in the USERS directory.   You need to go up to the root directory of your site by clicking on the ".." directory and going back a few directories.  You will see another "web"
directory there.  It will be in the same directory as the "certs, users and logs" directories.

Be sure to put your website's pages in THIS web directory.

All of your users will have websites stored under /users/username/web.

If you need assistance with this, please ask us.  We know it can be  confusing your first time.
